Description
Summary:A MIMO antenna of two element microstrip patch antenna attached with two parasitic elements, each for respective patch elements is designed in this work. The proposed antenna design consists of two microstrip feed lines, two ground planes and substrates over which patches are etched. The two separate parasitic elements above the patch with some separation between them. The proposed MIMO antenna is also designed with Slotted Resonator Rings (SRR). Simulation results show the return loss and gain characteristics of antenna structure with and without SRR. The proposed design with SRR is suitable for multi user communication as it generates multiple beams with moderate gain of maximum 6 dB in all the main beam directions, whereas without SRR design shows single beam radiation with a gain of around 6.5 dB. The results obtained using ANSYS HFSS tool exhibits high gain, low return loss and less mutual coupling at the designed millimeter wave frequency of 25-48 GHz.
