Description
Summary:The advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) has opened up new avenues for Smart City applications and services. This innovation becomes vital to improve the efficiency of urban services, minimize prices, and encourage people more effectively in the use of energy. One of the challenges of IoT is the efficient utilization of Energy as Sensors are battery-powered. It's important to comprehend the energy use of various communication technologies. In this paper, the Energy Consumption of various communication technologies (ZigBee, WiFi, LoRA) is analysed and compared with three different IoT Network scenarios designed using CupCarbon Simulator. The percentage of Average Energy consumed by ZigBee, WiFi, LoRa is for 100 sec. simulation time and 1800 total packets sent and received is as follows-0.0035, 0.094, 0.01 respectively. It is observed that WiFi consumes more Energy compared to others. Energy consumption of WiFi is 96.2 % higher than ZigBee and 88.9% higher than LoRa. The results indicate that LoRa is the best communication protocol in terms of Energy utilization and range.
