Description
Summary:In this review, the K + transport systems were selected and characterized. Detailed literature analysis and data summarizing regarding main members of K + transport systems, their biological roles in plant growth and developments, and mechanisms of abiotic stress tolerance were conducted. The processes of K + uptake, transport in tissues, and cellular distribution were described. Structure characteristic and topology of K + transport proteins and their role in function specificity were analyzed. The role of these membrane transport proteins in signaling, drought, and salt tolerance or K + deficiency were critically evaluated. New perspective directions for further research of K + transport proteins were suggested.
