Description
Summary:Rising cost pressure and increasing engineering efforts reach the automation departments of machinery and plant engineering industry, in this case the rolling mill manufacturer. A suitable way to overcome this challenges is to adapt concepts and procedures from the software engineering domain. To support this process, the authors present the requirements for the next generation automation solution of rolling mills. Afterwards the findings are compared with a survey of the SMS group on the same topic. Utilizing the requirements to find a fitting software architecture and development process to build the needed automation solution are the next steps.
