Lasers on the Basis of Cholesteric Liquid Crystals with Nano-Dimensional Dopants

In paper the possibility of modifying the parameters of a distributed feedback (DFB) lasers based on cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) with the nano-dimensional gold dopants is shown. The CLC was a mixture on the basis of 76.85 wt.% BL061 (CLC from Merck) + 22.5 wt.% E7 (nematic liquid crystal (NLC)...

Description
Summary:In paper the possibility of modifying the parameters of a distributed feedback (DFB) lasers based on cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) with the nano-dimensional gold dopants is shown. The CLC was a mixture on the basis of 76.85 wt.% BL061 (CLC from Merck) + 22.5 wt.% E7 (nematic liquid crystal (NLC) from Merck), and as dye was used the 0.65 wt.% of DCM (4-(Dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6-(4-dimethylamino- styryl)-4H-pyran). The seed-mediated growth method was used for the gold nanorods synthesis. We provide the possibility to control the wavelength of laser radiation according to gold nanorods concentration in the CLC matrix.
