Description
Summary:This work is devoted to the first evidence of the Cambrian conodonts fauna in Spitsbergen and their significance for age determination of the lower levels of the Lower Paleozoic sequence in the south part of the Wedel Jarlsberg Land (the southwest part of Spitsbergen). Based on new paleontological data, the Jarlsberg unconformity at the base of the sedimentary succession can be correlated with the pre-UralideTimanide unconformity in the basement of the Timan-Pechora Barents Sea region and an unconformity in the basal strata of Paleozoic complexes (the Uralide complexes) of the northern areas of the western slope of the Urals.
