Description
Summary:•The paper addresses the issue of indigenous entrepreneurship in Latin America.•The paper showcases examples of indigenous ventures by different indigenous communities in the region.•The paper also proposes a quadruple-sextuple helix to better understand the variables involved in fostering indigenous entrepreneurship. In 2022, native communities throughout Latin America are actively pursuing alternative economic pathways for their sustainable tribal economic development, growth, and self-determination. Entrepreneurial activities are a key pillar and dimension of these efforts and strategies. Indigenous entrepreneurship in Latin America offers an avenue for indigenous communities to address their economic, social, and environmental challenges and to address pressing social innovation issues in the region. The paper introduces a Quadruple-Sextuple Helix framework of analysis to provide a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities permeating tribal economic development and indigenous entrepreneurship in Latin America.
