Summary: | This paper provides an overview of the benchmark objectives, architecture tradeoffs and architecture validation of the Advanced AYK-14 (AAYK-14) as applied to the LAMPS Block II Integrated Mission Processor (IMP). The Advanced AYK-14 provides a Next Generation Computer Resources (NGCR) open architecture solution for next generation avionic processing requirements. The AAYK-14 provides RISC multiprocessor, video multiprocessor graphics engine, and live video acquisition capabilities. The architecture of the AAYK-14 has been strongly influenced by both detailed LAMPS Block II performance requirements and AAYK-14 family multiple platform requirements. This influence is critical to the optimal use of any open architecture since it assures that the open standard elements can function efficiently as a system. The top-down design approach described assures that the AAYK-14 architecture will continue the successful multiple platform application flexibility of the AYK-14 family.< > |
