Description
Summary:In the present study, the influence of the change in vegetation cover from the year 2000 to 2012 on the generation of peak flows in the Sardinata river basin is determined through the implementation of the hydrological modeling tool called SWAT. the department of Norte de Santander - Colombia, also, a prediction of the possible hydrological behavior of the basin is made based on the identified changes in coverage. From the above, it is possible to establish that the variation that the basin has presented with respect to certain types of coverage has directly influenced the generation of runoff in it and, consequently, in the increase of the generated flows; however, these changes are not considered critical, given that they are not sufficient to generate extreme peak flows in the analysis area of the present study.
