Summary:	A POSSIBLE association between liver cell adenoma and oral contraceptives has been indicated in recent reports.1-10 Although histologically benign, these tumors can be complicated by rupture, bleeding, hemoperitoneum, and shock. Death has occurred in eight of 24 cases reported to date. It is likely that an increasing number of these tumors will manifest themselves in the future. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a case in which completely separate tumors of the liver were found simultaneously in a patient taking oral contraceptives. This is the second case involving liver cell adenoma seen within a year at our institution.10Report of a CaseA 32-year-old woman, gravida 3, para 3, had been taking oral contraceptives (a mixture of norethindrone and mestranol [Ortho-Novum], 2 mg) for six years.
