To assess the level of Assertiveness among staff nurses in selected Hospitals of Bengaluru.2. To assess the level of self esteem among staff nurses in selected Hospitals of Bengaluru.3. To correlate the level of Assertiveness and self esteem among staff nurses in selected Hospitals of Bengaluru.4. To find out the association between Assertiveness and self esteem among staff nurses with their selected socio demographic variables.CONCEPTUAL FRAME WORK:Conceptual frame work adopted for this study is based on modified conceptual framework on Karasek’s job demand-control model.METHODOLOGY:The research design adopted for this study was a Non experimental descriptive correlation design and the research approach was an quantitative approach. The sample size consists of 100 Staff Nurses from selected hospitals Bangalore, Karnataka. The tool used for the data collection was structured knowledge questionnaire.The tool was organized into three parts: -SECTION A:-Section A dealt with demographic data. It contains 7 items such as Age, Gender, Religion, Educational Qualification, Experience, Area of work and participation in personality development programme.SECTION B:-Modified assertive inventory by Robert E. Alberti and Michael L. Emmons consists of 20 questions and these questions will be helpful in assessing nurses assertiveness. For some questions, the assertive end of the scale is at 0, for others at 3.SECTION C:-Modified self esteem scale by Rosenberg, M. (1965) consists of 10 questions and these questions will be helpful in assessing nurses self esteem.The data collection was done in the month of Feb 2018 to April 2018. The obtained data was analyzed and interpreted on the basis of the objectives of the study. The collected data was summarized and tabulated by utilizing descriptive statistics (percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (student independent ‘t’-test and ‘Chi-square’ test).RESULTS:The findings of the present study, level of assertiveness among staff nurses depicts that 20% of the samples had low assertiveness, 68% had moderate assertiveness and 12% of them had high assertiveness. The mean assertiveness score of respondents is 36.84 (61.4%) with the standard deviation of 7.347 which indicates the moderate assertiveness of staff nurses. Level of Self esteem among staff nurses depicts that majority 86% of the samples had moderate self esteem, 9% had high self esteem and 5% of them had low self esteem. |
