Novel Voltage Boost Drive Circuit for Switched Reluctance Motor with Torque Improvement Excitation Method

A novel drive circuit of switched reluctance motors, which can boost phase voltages without external inductors, is proposed. In previous works, the mechanical output of switched reluctance motors with proposed drive circuit was higher than that of conventional one. In this paper, a new excitation st...

Description
Summary:A novel drive circuit of switched reluctance motors, which can boost phase voltages without external inductors, is proposed. In previous works, the mechanical output of switched reluctance motors with proposed drive circuit was higher than that of conventional one. In this paper, a new excitation strategy to improve average torque with the proposed drive circuit is proposed. The simulation results of proposed excitation method and conventional excitation method are shown and discussed.
