Description
Summary:A 15kW Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive system suitable shipboard applications has been developed. This platform meets shipboard interface requirements with low cost and high power density. It consists of a Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) Current Source Rectifier (PWM-CSR) and front end Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) modules feeding a high efficiency PM Motor. Converter modules can be interchanged in order to optimize the power conversion function to the application. The design also includes controls networkability and flexibility to enable automation and end-user customization. This paper also investigates the optimal configuration in order to meet performance objectives without increasing size/weight. Experimental results are provided.
