Summary: | Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have received considerable attention in recent years as they have great potential for many distributed applications in several different scenarios. Whatever the scenario, most WSNs are actually connected to an external network, through which sensed information are passed to the Internet and control messages can reach the WSN. Despite the need of integrating WSN and Internet, this is a complex task. This paper presents SAGe (Sensor Advanced Gateway), a gateway for integrating Wireless Sensor Networks and the Internet. SAGe enables the communication between services running on Internet hosts and WSN nodes, allowing their integration at service level. In order to show SAGe in action, we present distributed applications that spread out through the WSN and Internet, emphasizing SAGe functionality. |
