Summary: | In this paper, I study racial representation and antiracist narratives on comics as critical public pedagogy. I analyze how Spanish artists depict a set of racializing and “othering” processes through the lense of critical public pedagogy, Critical Race Theory and comics studies on race. I provide three approaches on three different sets of comics: the construction of the “other” in comics funded by humanitarian organizations, humor as critical public pedagoy and autobiography as an exploration of racializing processes. The aim of this article is to contribute to discussions about inclusion, diversity and representation in comics that are already well-established and expanding outside Spain but hardly developed in the national context.
