An improved search algorithm for fractal image compression

Fractal image compression algorithms are very CPU intensive and time consuming. In this paper an algorithm for classifying image blocks and reducing the search space is proposed. This algorithm improves the search time by one order of magnitude with an error increase of no more than 1 db.
