Summary: | The results of a probabilistic analysis performed to validate the safety of AES-2006 designed for the site of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant are presented. The requirements for the AES-2006 design are examined. The characteristic features of the AES-2006 design for the conditions at the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant site are described, including the diversity of the equipment and operating regime, passive systems, and scheduled maintenance of safety systems with the reactor operating at power. The scope of the probabilistic safety analysis performed at the development stage of the technical design is described. The important problems which must be solved in a probabilistic safety analysis for the designs of new nuclear power plants are discussed. |
