Gain Enhancement of CPW Fed Microstrip Patch Antenna Using Metasurface

This study investigates the use of meta surface to increase gain in CPW-fed microstrip patch antennas. The meta surface is made up of a 4×4 grid of square pieces that measure 18.8×18.8 mm2 at height 2.25. There is a radiation box measuring 60×60×30 mm3 that is filled with air and a ground plane meas...

Description
Summary:This study investigates the use of meta surface to increase gain in CPW-fed microstrip patch antennas. The meta surface is made up of a 4×4 grid of square pieces that measure 18.8×18.8 mm2 at height 2.25. There is a radiation box measuring 60×60×30 mm3 that is filled with air and a ground plane measuring 20×20 mm2. Within the radiation box is a 1.5 mm layer of foam with relative permittivity and permeability of 1.06 and 1, respectively. The substrate is 0.75 mm thick and composed of FR-4 epoxy resin. Its relative permeability is 1 and its relative permittivity is 4.4. This study examines the effect of these parameters on the antenna system's gain improvement through simulations and analysis, offering insightful information for enhancing antenna performance.
