Summary: | Summary form only given. The 1 MV Linear Transformer Driver (LTD) generator has been transferred from the site Polygône d'Expérimentation de Moronvilliers to the site of Gramat by the CEA. In order to mitigate both the volume and the duration of the moving operation, only the inner stalk and the ancillary equipment (high voltage dump tanks, trigger generator, vacuum system, command bay, etc.) were disconnected. The 10 cavities remained compressed together in their own support stand. The generator was reassembled in less than two months. All cavities were opened to check visually that the inner components did not move inside and to carry out some preventive maintenance operations (rebuilding liquid resistors, inspecting insulators, etc.). The generator is now being operated with the same performance as before the transfer. Also, for the first time on this generator, several radiographic shots have been fired with a conical Self Magnetic Pinch (SMP) diode. |
