Summary:A Monrovian surgeonfish, Acanthurus monroviae Steindachner, 1892, was found for the first time off the Tunisian coast, in the Gulf of Tunis, northern Tunisia. The specimen is described with morphometric measurements, meristic counts and some biological observations. The occurrence of A. monroviae in the area and the Mediterranean Sea is discussed and commented.Original Abstract: Un poisson-chirurgien, Acanthurus monroviae Steindachner, 1892, a ete trouve pour la premiere fois devant la cote tunisienne, dans le golfe de Tunis, en Tunisie septentrionale. Le specimen est decrit par ses caracteres morphometriques, ses comptes meristiques et quelques observations biologiques. La presence d'A. monroviae dans la region et en Mer Mediterranee est discutee et commentee.
