Betaine treatment decreased oxidative stress, inflammation, and stellate cell activation in rats with alcoholic liver fibrosis

Highlights • Alcoholic liver fibrosis was induced by ethanol and carbon tetrachloride in rats. • Effect of betaine (BET) on alcoholic liver fibrosis was investigated. • BET supressed oxidative stress, inflammation and hepatic stellate cell activation.
